Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation
About the PWHF
Founded by Morad Tahbaz in 2008, the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation was a non-profit, non-governmental organization publicly supported and run by a group of dedicated environmentalists and responsible citizens. The Board of Trustees set the Foundation’s general policies, approved budgets for the projects, and oversaw all financial activities. The Board of Directors supervised the activities of the scientists and experts who ran these projects. Additionally, PWHF operated with the permission of the Government and worked closely in tandem with Iran’s Department of Environment.
The Foundation initially set out to address the concern over the dwindling number of Asiatic Cheetahs which resided solely in Iran. They further expanded to conserve wildlife and nature, while striving to preserve a future for the country, where these resources were to be kept safe and respected by everyone so that the natural heritage could be passed on to future generations.
The Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation’s mission was to help the conservation of wildlife and natural habitats within Iran by conducting scientific research, education, and awareness raising, conservation initiatives and encouraging local community participation. Conducted by a group of incredibly talented and passionate environmentalists bonded on the love for their country and wildlife conservation, the Foundation was globally admired, highly respected, and recognized.
