The Last Caspian Tiger
2023-2024
The Last Caspian Tiger pays tribute to this magnificent extinct species, embodying both its physical characteristics and its tragic history. Created after Morad's release, this piece nonetheless adheres to the artistic methodology he developed during his imprisonment. The sculpture's distinctive feature is its representation of the tiger's numerous stripes through a series of interconnected panels that either protrude or recess, creating a play of light and shadow that mimics the tiger's striped coat.
This work not only serves as a memorial to a lost species but also reflects Morad's personal journey and philosophy. Inspired by Zoroastrian beliefs of the constant struggle between light and darkness, good and evil, Morad channeled his experiences of injustice and anguish into creative expression. This sculpture is both a tribute to Iran's lost wildlife and a symbol of resilience and hope in the face of misfortune.
