Persian Lion in Repose

2021

Morad’s first work, Persian Lion in Repose was crafted with the aim of rendering three-dimensional pieces from his drawings and carpet designs. A fascination for sculptures with adjustable shapes led him to create a simple hinge at the lion’s midsection so its position could be changed. Built in six pieces that come together with a single dowel, the whole piece is designed to be taken apart and put back together in minutes. Because it was created from scrap wood, Morad painted the work white for the sake of uniformity.
